When In Rome

The boys finally got up, finally called their cab, and finally started to pack.  Better late then never, right? This question is still be pondered here.  After liters of water pounded, the cab came and they took off to the airport. Upon arrival, they scarfed down two sandies each and walked into the airport. Still feeling good from the night before Nate gazed at a huge glass case before security that was full of belongings unable to be brought through. Among the things was a old rusty pirate knife and about 1000 lighters. Nate stood star struck at the site and began to think out loud, 'why would someone put there lighters in this box... seems like a waste of a lighter." Jordan and Matt obviously thought of this to be a joke because no one would think of lighters to be donated to a box before security. Sure enough we walk another 100ft the conversation halts and Nate asks.. 'wait so we cant bring lighters on the plane?' They looked back dumbfounded. He stops, frowns, turns around and starts walking back. Jordan and Matt, oblivious to what just happened, wonder what was going though his mind looking at the box of lighters. Maybe he thought it was like a fountain for coins only lighters were the good luck charm. They shook our heads in disapproval as Nate threw a lighter that he randomly had in his jeans from the night before that a heavily liqoured Scot had given him and continued the journey to Italy.

After a few hour flight they arrived to see Tony (Matt's good friend from home who lives in Barcelona) gimped leg and all yelling 'Whooo wee!' in the middle street of Rome.  Guert ran ahead and jumped into his arms. One year later, it was a South Padre Spring Break reunion half way across the world. Jimmy was also there upon arrival having a set of blood shot eyes due to his couple hours of sleep himself. Gotta Love J-Bone!

Jordan and Matt (the ones that reserved the hostel-mistake) tried to con a room which quickly turned bad.  It was that the room was five feet from the front desk. Thankfully, Tony had two beds just down the road and Nate bunked up with him.  The two stayed in the Yellow Hostel that was full of all Americans and met a girl from Maryland. Who knew that state was so cool?

The next morning, the troops gathered and ventured around Rome.  First visiting the Colosseum then the Vatican and other various sites.  It was with Tony's ability to ask anyone and everyone to take a picture of us that we were able to get the hundreds of pictures that we did.

While making the trek around the city, we were stopped and convinced to attend the St. Patty's Pub Crawl. Just nuts! First pub we met up with many Americans, and as if we were at a Forth of July Parade, instigated many USA chants. With an abundance of legendary green liquids thrown around, another pub was attended then finished off at a club.  After a great night, the group made it back to the hostel for much needed rest.  It was tomorrow that we would meet up with our trip leader for our Spring Break trip and head to Athens!

To no ones surprise, we were the last ones to the line of our trip all wearing Colosseum pub crawl shirts and giddy for the coming adventure.
